Den fantastiske popkonstnären Claes Oldenburg har avlidit 93 år gammal. Den svensk-amerikanske konstnären gjorde skulpturer, installationer och happenings.
Han lekte med olika uttryck, gjorde kopior av vardagliga föremål i andra material, gjorde dem enorma och vred till perspektiven. T.ex. kunde hans skulpturer föreställa en strömbrytare, ett handfat eller en hamburgare, men gjorda i mjuka material. På ett bordtennisbord vred han i stället till formen.
Länge hade jag en affisch med hans skulptur ”Geometric Mouse” (1972) på väggen, en förenklad mus med stora runda öron i blått och gult. En form baserad på Musse Pigg och en gammal filmkamera.

The fantastic pop artist Claes Oldenburg has died 93 years old. The Swedish-American artist made sculptures, installations and happenings.
He played with different expressions, made copies of everyday objects in other materials, made them huge and changed the perspectives. He could for example make sculptures of a switch, a sink or a hamburger, but made in soft materials. On a table tennis table, he instead changed the form.
For a long time I had a poster on the wall with his sculpture ”Geometric Mouse” (1972), a simplified mouse with big round ears in blue and yellow. A shape based on Mickey Mouse and an old movie camera.
